SCORE Open Education Resources Regional Event - working within OER content & tools
Support Centre for Open Resources in Education (SCORE) Open Education Resources Regional Event - Cambridgeshire on 9th February 2010.
The event is part of the consultation process with the HEI sector concerning the use and creation of Open Educational Resources. We will be giving an overview of the OER work around the Open University, in particular OpenLearn, highlighting the benefits, institutional approach, opportunities and challenges of the last four years. Promoting the service available to sector under the HEFCE funded Support Centre for Open Resources in Education (SCORE). There will be two guest speakers from the Cambridgeshire region. Barney Brown from iTunesU, University of Cambridge, and Toby Carter, Anglia Ruskin University, featuring the JISC funded project NumBat (Numeracy Bank). There will be plenty of opportunity throughout the day to ask questions and get some practical answers from the different projects and institutions.
Programme of the Day
Aims: To consult and share experiences working within OER content & tools.
10:00 – 10:30 Welcome, coffee & refreshments, registration.
10:30 – 12:30 Introduction: The Open University’s experience of producing Open Content across a variety of projects, including OpenLearn.
Overview of the support services SCORE can offer the HEI sector.

12:30 – 13:30 Lunch
13:30 – 14:30 Open Discussions: Opportunities, Challenges & Barriers to Open Content in Higher Education
14:30 – 15:00 Question time: Bring along a question to ask the OER community; technical, rights, production, examples of use, sustainability, publishing.
15:00 – 15:30 Tea and coffee.
