CETIS online seminar - tracking use of OERs
I received this invite from Phil Barker, and I'm looking forward to participating,
Nick.
Hello Nick, Luke,
I work JISC CETIS and will be running an online seminar for the UK OER programme this Thursday. The subject of the seminar is "resource tracking", i.e. monitoring the production, use, reuse and impact (as far as it possible) through web stats and similar approaches. I'm hoping to run the session as much as possible as a discussion, focussing in parallel on what is useful and why, and what is technically possible.Jenny Gray has agreed to contribute to the discussion on what is technically possible but she also suggested I contact you since you might be interested in sharing some thoughts on why you gather the stats you do.
The seminar runs from 2 and will last about 1hr30 (-ish. It depends on how many of the participants actually contribute); would you be interested in joining?
Phil

Did this event happen?
If so, is there an online archive someplace? Very interested to hear more on the latest thinking on this topic. Cheers, Scott Leslie
Phil Barker wrote a post
Phil Barker wrote a post before the event, the event itself was online in Elluminate, and it was restricted access. So there's no public archive that I know of I'm afraid.
The main focus of the event as I remember it, was to summarise known tracking methods, for example, Web bugs. My colleague Jenny Gray gave her experiences as lead developer on OpenLearn. There was some general discussion, however I can't remember any startling conclusions!
Tracking OERs blog post
This online event was fairly useful. I've blogged a proposal I did just before it, and I'll put some comments there.
